As Voters Choose A D.A. Today, City's On A Pace For 700 Murders

Today, when you cast your vote for D.A., if you're OK with Philadelphia racking up 700 murders this year, then by all means push the button to re-elect Larry Krasner.

But if you think that the price tag for Krasner's alleged reforms has been too much bloodshed, then vote for Carlos Vega, the career homicide prosecutor who is Krasner's only opponent in today's Democratic primary.

The choice is as simple as that. And it's as clear as the math of the brutal crime statistics that the cops post every day online.

The math goes like this: When Krasner got elected in 2017, we had 315 murders. Last year, we had 499, the highest total in 30 years. This year, as of Monday, over the first 137 days of this year, we've had 197 murders. That's a 41% increase over last year's rate, and puts the city on a pace for 703 murders. 

Is that acceptable? In a story I wrote Sunday for substack. com, I recounted Krasner's alleged achievements, such as indicting 51 cops for felonies and freeing 20 convicts that Krasner says were wrongly convicted, and concluded they come up way short.

Especially when you consider Krasner's futility. Yesterday, another one of those indicted cops, former SWAT team member Richard Nicoletti, watched as a judge threw out Krasner's entire case against him for a lack of evidence. It's part of a distinctly one-sided trend that shows how biased and incompetent Krasner's office is.

Of the 51 cops that Krasner has indicted for felonies during his four years in office, Krasner has a perfect score: he's 0 for 51. To date the D.A. hasn't convicted one cop of a felony.

The Black D.A. And The White D.A.

During his last six months in office, as he ran the gauntlet of ethics officials, prosecutors and the media, former District Attorney Seth Williams got nailed at every turn.

So when Williams watches his successor in action, he could be forgiven if he feels a pang of envy.

After all, Williams went to jail for accepting as gifts -- the feds called them bribes -- occasional free flights to sunny locales, where he was also treated to free meals and hotel stays. But when District Attorney Larry Krasner took office, he made Williams look like a piker.

During his first 28 months in office, Krasner went on a globe-trotting, barnstorming all-expenses paid junket to 47 cities across the nation, as well as Vancouver, Berlin and Portugal. While the known tab ran over $100,000, taxpayers picked up 85% of the cost. Krasner's campaign contributors such as the Real Justice PAC of San Francisco, paid for the rest.

Ok, so one D.A. sold himself cheap, while the other D.A. obviously knows how to play the game so that a dollar never leaves his bulging wallet. 

But Krasner's also a tax deadbeat -- he owes $53,966 in taxes this year on a building he owns at 1221 Locust -- and he's brazenly breaking the city's campaign finance laws.

Progressive Billionaires Funding Larry Krasner's 'Social Experiment'

Progressive out-of-state billionaires are big fans of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner.

According to the last annual campaign finance report filed last February, of the 64 total donations made to Krasner's reelection campaign for D.A. in 2019, 33 donations came from out-of-state contributors, including 16 from California alone. 

Of course, Krasner's biggest billionaire backer remains George Soros of New York City, with an estimated net worth of $8 billion. In 2017, Soros used PACs to funnel $1.7 million to Krasner's election campaign.

But in 2018 and 2019, Krasner's biggest donor was the Real Justice PAC of San Francisco, which according to its website was founded to "fix our broken criminal justice system" by electing "reform" D.A.s across the country like Larry Krasner. The PAC donated $25,000 to Krasner in 2018 and another $9,000 in 2019, for a total of $34,000. Two top leaders of the PAC also made personal contributions to Krasner's campaign of another $9,000.

A big backer of the Real Justice PAC is Cari Tuna of Palo Alto, CA, a former reporter at the Wall Street Journal who's married to Dustin Moskovitz. Moskovitz, Mark Zuckerberg's roommate at Harvard, was a co-founder of Facebook. In 2011, Forbes proclaimed Moskovitz, then 27, to be the youngest self-made billionaire in history. Today, he has a net worth estimated between $12 and $16 billion.

Carlos Vega, Candidate For D.A.: Larry Krasner's 'Social Experiment' Funded By Rich Elites Is Killing Black And Brown People

Carlos Vega, who's running for the Democratic nomination for D.A., says that Larry Krasner is conducting a "social experiment" funded by rich elites, an experiment that's killing black and brown people every day on the bloody streets of Philadelphia.  
 

In an interview on the latest cop-hosted Search Warrant podcast, Vega talked about billionaire George Soros and the tech giants from California who are bankrolling Krasner's reelection campaign.

"There are millionaires and billionaires that are backing him for this social experiment," said Vega, who spent 35 years as a prosecutor in the district attorney's office, 30 of those years as a homicide prosecutor. 

"This social experiment is failing at the cost of the lives of black and brown people," Vega said. He cited statistics that show that 87% of the city's nearly 500 murder victims in 2020 were black, and another 10-12% were Latino.

Standing in front of the District Attorney's office, Carlos Vega, a former homicide prosecutor, announced he would run for D.A., and be an advocate for crime victims.

As a homicide prosecutor for 30 years, Vega said, "I have seen mothers and they have come to me and they say, 'Carlos, they killed my baby. They took him away.' "

Vega recalled what he used to tell those moms. "I said, 'You're my family, I'll fight for you, I'll be your voice.' "

"This city deserves a district attorney who is a voice for the victims," he said. But that's not what we have in Larry Krasner, who, as D.A., has been an  advocate for criminals. And a tool of the progressive elite. 

"We have a district attorney now that is bought and paid for by the rich elite, the millionaire elite who have this special agenda," Vega said. "They don't even live here," he said, but they're "telling us how to run this city."

Finally, An Alternative To 'Let-Em-Loose Larry;' Carlos Vega, Career Homicide Prosecutor, Announces He's Running For Philly D.A.

Attention, long suffering citizens of Philadelphia: We finally have an alternative to our current district attorney who caters to criminals, and doesn't give a damn about crime victims.

He's Carlos Vega, 64, a career homicide prosecutor in the D.A.'s office who, over a 35-year career, tried nearly 450 homicide cases, and lost only 14.

Next Wednesday at 11 a.m., Vega will be holding a press conference outside the D.A.'s office at 3 South Penn Square to announce his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for district attorney.

Vega will be opposing incumbent D.A. Larry Krasner, the George Soros-financed radical whose alleged "reforms" of the criminal justice system have been a disaster for Philadelphia, as witnessed this year by a record murder rate, and a record number of shootings.

As a career homicide prosecutor, Vega said, he was in the courtroom every day, acting as the champion for murder victims "who are never heard, who have no voice."

"I am here to represent the victims," Vega said. "I've always been the voice for the victims." Watching the murder and shooting rates escalate to historic levels, Vega says, he decided as a career prosecutor, as well as a parent, that "I can't sit by and let this happen to my city."
